His Excellency the Governor-General has conferred the honour of the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander (CD) upon Professor Tara  P. Dasgupta, in recognition of his significant contribution to Science, Education and Research. The appointment to the Order is with effect from Independence Day, Tuesday, 6th August 2013.

The University of the West Indies Appointments Committee has conferred the tittle 'Honorary Research Fellow' on Professor Tara P. Dasgupta for a period of three (3) years effective February 1, 2013.

The Board for Graduate Studies & Research of The University of the West Indies has awarded Raymond Reid Ph.D. degree in Chemistry effective July 01, 2011.

ISO 17025 Accreditation

The Accreditation Council of the Jamaica National Agency for Accreditation (JANAAC) on Thursday, October 8, 2015, approved the recommendation from the Accreditation Evaluation Committee (AEC) for the award of an accreditation certificate to the Pesticide Research Laboratory of The University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica in the Food Testing Field. The effective date of the award is Tuesday, October 6, 2015, the date the AEC recommendation was made [Certificate of Accreditation]
